How GarmentMaker works

1. Describe the garment

Start a project and add up to five pictures: a photo of a garment you like, a sketch, or a flat drawing. Say in a sentence or two what you want, and choose the fabric type. GarmentMaker drafts dresses, tops, skirts, and trousers.

2. Enter your measurements

Measure over the underwear you will wear, with the tape level and snug but not tight. Each field explains where to measure. Height, bust, waist, and hips are always needed; the others make the fit more accurate.

3. Answer questions and review the design

If a picture leaves something unclear, such as the neckline depth or the closure, you are asked to choose. Before any pattern is drafted you see a plain description of the design to confirm, or you can ask for changes.

4. Preview and download

Drafting and checking take about fifteen minutes. You can leave the page; the project keeps its place. The preview shows every piece at small size. Unlocking the package gives you:

  • Pattern pages for A4 and US Letter, plus A0 and 36 in sheets for a copy shop.
  • Sewing instructions with the fabric and notions to buy and a cutting layout.

Printing at the right size

Print at 100% or “actual size”, never “fit to page”. Before cutting, measure the 5 cm and 2 in test squares on the first page. If they are off, check the printer settings and print again.

Changes and support

From a finished project you can ask for a revision, such as a longer hem or a different sleeve. Each revision is a new version, and earlier downloads stay available. If something looks wrong, write to support from the project page.

About this alpha

  • Patterns are drafted and checked automatically. Nobody reviews them before you see them, and fit is not guaranteed. Make a test garment from inexpensive fabric first.
  • Your pictures, measurements, and projects are visible only to you. They are used to make your pattern and to diagnose problems with this service. To read your pictures and plan the design, they are sent to OpenAI’s models through the operator’s ChatGPT account.
  • Your access is tied to this browser. Signing out ends the session; entering the code again starts a new, empty one.
